A funeral Mass for Sister Marie Loeffler, CPPS, will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 15, at St. Joseph Chapel, 204 N. Main St., O’Fallon. A wake will precede the Mass at 9:30 a.m.
Sister Marie died Feb. 21. She was 98 years old.
Mary Frowine Loeffler was born on March 18, 1923, the seventh of 10 children of Joseph and Josephine (Schulte) Loeffler. She entered the Sisters of the Most Precious Blood’s aspirancy at age 14. She was received into the novitiate in 1941 and given the name Sister Alvita. She professed first vows on Aug. 10, 1943. When it was possible to return to her baptismal name, she chose to use the name Marie.
She served as a homemaker and cook for 50 years. After those 50 years in food service and homemaking, Sister Marie turned to other ministries. She ministered as a teacher’s aide at the Missouri School for the Blind and served as a caregiver. After retirement, she volunteered in various capacities at St. Timothy and St. Wenceslaus parishes in St. Louis.
Burial will be in the convent cemetery.
