OBITUARY | Sister Annette Marie Pezold, CCVI

Sister Annette Marie Pezold, CCVI, died on April 14 in San Antonio, Texas. She was born in St. Charles on July 3, 1933, to Dorothy (Murphy) and Joseph Pezold. She entered the Congregation of the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word in 1951, professed first vows in 1954 and perpetual vows in 1959.
Sister Annette Marie earned a bachelor’s degree in English at Marillac College in St. Louis and a master’s degree in social work/gerontology at The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C.
She served in a variety of ministries over the years. She taught at Immaculate Conception in Jefferson City and Macon, Missouri; St. Frances of Rome in Cicero, Illinois; St. Vincent de Paul in Pampa, Texas; Blessed Sacrament in St. Louis; Our Lady of the Valley in El Paso, Texas; St. James in Potosi; and St. Mary’s in Amarillo, Texas. She served in parish ministry at St. Anselm in Creve Coeur and as a social worker at the Cardinal Ritter Institute in St. Louis and Incarnate Word Retirement Center and Santa Rosa Hospice, both in San Antonio. She also served in the department of Mission and Ministry at Baptist/St. Anthony Hospital in Amarillo, Texas.
Sister Annette Marie was preceded in death by her parents, Dorothy and Joseph Pezold. She is survived by her sister, Sister Mary Pezold, CCVI; her brothers, Edward and Richard; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends and by her community, the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word.
