Obituary | Deacon Donald Stigall
A funeral Mass for Deacon Donald Stigall was celebrated Dec. 30 at Mary Queen of Peace Church in Webster Groves. Deacon Stigall died Dec. 23 at age 77.
Deacon Stigall was ordained to the permanent diaconate on June 3, 2000, at the Cathedral Basilica of Saint Louis by then-Archbishop Justin F. Rigali. After ordination, he was assigned and assisted the pastor at St. Luke the Evangelist in Richmond Heights. He was later assigned to the Military Archdiocese at the Naval Air Station in China Lake, California, as an assistant chaplain from 2002-03. On his return to St. Louis, Deacon Stigall was reassigned to St. Luke. He also served at Mary, Queen of Peace Church in Webster Groves, from 2005 until he entered into retirement status in 2011. Deacon Stigall also served in the Pastoral Care Department at St. Mary’s Health Center in St. Louis as a chaplain. He served his parishes by presiding at baptisms, funeral services and weddings. Additionally, Deacon Stigall was also involved with the St. Vincent de Paul Society.
Deacon Stigall is survived by his wife, Mary Kathleen (Kay), and their children Rebecca, Gary and Margaret.
