About Sister Kathy Overmann: I grew up with six sisters, three older than me and three younger. I went to grade school at Nativity in Walnut Park. The Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet taught me for eight years, then I went to Laboure where the Daughters of Charity taught me for four years. My parents were very active in the parish and so were my sisters and me. I learned from my parents that we should always help out those who lacked what we had, and we really didn’t have much. That is why we always thank God at night for what we have. I joined the Daughters of Charity because of their work in going out to the margins and walking with those in need. In my 50 years as a Daughter, I have learned from those whom I’ve served with and continue to serve with, to be aware of God’s presence in those we meet. I have really been blessed these 50 years!

About Sister Loretto Gettemeier: I am grateful to God for the blessings with which God has gifted me during these 80 years when I have had the joy of serving God’s people in various ministries. Now, in this concluding phase of my life, I find God especially in the beauty of creation. However, I am concerned about the future of our planet. I urge our Church and our legislators to act according to the priorities set forth in Pope Francis’ encyclical, “Laudato Si’.” I pray that all of us have the gift of ecological conversion so that together we can protect and renew this amazing creation that our God has entrusted to us.
