Respect for Life at St. Paul

Students at St. Paul School in St. Paul held a memorial event Sept. 29 in honor of Respect Life Month. Sixth-, seventh- and eighth-grade students carried crosses outside after Mass as a memorial to the millions of babies who have lost their lives to abortion. The crosses will remain on display through the month of October.

Feed My People client-choice food pantry

Feed My People recently debuted a new client-choice food pantry with a ribbon cutting on Oct. 7 at the pantry, 171 Kingston Drive in south St. Louis County. The new model will allow clients to choose the food that they want, while also receiving one-on-one help to address wider needs. The organization is supported by several Catholic parishes among the Christian congregations working together to give people in need hope for a brighter future. Since its inception in 1982, Feed My People has seen an increase in clients, with more than $4 million in food assistance provided to people in need last year. Grief support group

A Compassion Group for those healing from the loss of a spouse or loved one will take place on the second Saturday of the month, beginning Oct. 8, from 2:30-4:30 p.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes, 1014 Madison Ave. in Washington. Talk on Blessed Columba Marmion

The Daughters of St Paul welcome Father Cassian Koenemann, OSB, who will speak on his book, “The Grace of Nothingness: Navigating the Spiritual Life with Blessed Columba Marmion” at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 11, at Pauline Books & Media, 9804 Watson Road in Crestwood. St. Mary of Victories picnic and remembrance

St. Mary of Victories Church will host a homecoming picnic and commemoration of the Hungarian Revolution on Oct. 23 at the church, 744 South 3rd St. in St. Louis. The picnic will kick off after the 11 a.m. Mass and include Hungarian food, live music from the Polka Connection and dancing by the International Folk Dance Association of St. Louis. There will also be a short program with featured speakers to honor and remember the 1956 Hungarian Revolution, marked on Oct. 23 each year. First responders’ Mass

St. Ambrose Parish on the Hill celebrated the feast day of St. Michael the Archangel, the patron saint of first responders, with a Mass Sept. 29. Pastor Father Jack Siefert prayed a special blessing over St. Michael medals and distributed them to the police, firefighters and emergency personnel who attended Mass. Afterward, sixth-, seventh- and eighth-grade students served refreshments to attending guests.

WINE for women

Immaculate Conception Parish and the archdiocesan Office of Evangelization and Family Life will host the “WINE: Women in the New Evangelization,” a women’s conference on Saturday, Nov. 5, from 8 a.m.-3:30 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Church, 7717 Town Square Ave. in Dardenne Prairie.

The theme of this year’s conference, inspired by John 20:16, is “Called by Name.” The day begins with 8 a.m. Mass celebrated by Auxiliary Bishop Mark Rivituso, and includes inspirational talks and music. Conference speakers include Joelle Maryn, LeAnn Thieman, Sister Margaret Michael, Alyssa Bomes, and Catholic evangelist, author, and founder of WINE: Women In the New Evangelization, Kelly Wahlquist.

There will be opportunities for adoration, special prayer opportunities, confession and lunch and shopping. Cost is $55 before Oct. 15 ($75 after).

A special Gathering in the Vineyard will be held from 6:30-9 p.m. Friday, Nov. 4, in the parish hall, for anyone feeling called to lead women to Christ. The evening includes a social hour, dinner, networking and fun. Cost for the Friday gathering and Saturday conference is $100 Before Oct. 15 ($125 after). Tribute to the Troops

St. Louis Tribute to the Troops, will host a military veterans’ concert Sunday, Nov. 13, at St. Matthias, 796 Buckley Road in Lemay, in the church gymnasium. Doors open at 1 p.m., and the concert begins at 2 p.m. Featured will be the Mehlville High School Choir. Reservations are required by Nov. 1.
