Successful drive

The Knights of Columbus at Christ Prince of Peace Parish in Manchester recently held a coat and sock drive to provide warmth for hundreds of people in need who are facing a cold winter. The parish is distributing hundreds of coats and what it termed “a small mountain of socks” to St. Anthony’s Food Pantry in St. Louis, the Rural Parish Workers of Christ the King in Cadet, Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry in St. Louis, and Father Bob’s Outreach at St. Augustine Parish. In addition, the parish is using monetary donations to buy 500 pairs of men’s, women’s and children’s gloves for people in need.

Christmas wishes fulfilled

More than 450 clients and their families received items from St. Patrick Center’s Christmas Wishes Family Sponsorship Program Dec. 10. St. Louis area individuals, families and businesses provided items for the recipients. They bought each person a minimum of two items from clients’ Christmas wish lists. St. Patrick Center, a Catholic Charities agency, provides opportunities for self-sufficiency and dignity to people who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. Individuals and families build permanent, positive change in their lives through safe and affordable housing, sound mental and physical health, and employment and financial stability.

Men for Christ

Due to local restrictions, the 2021 Catholic Men for Christ Conference will be entirely virtual, held in partnership with the Virtual Catholic Conference National Men’s Conference on Saturday, Feb. 20. The conference will be offered free to every man in the archdiocese. It offers practical lessons of living a vocation as fathers, husbands, sons and disciples. The conference provides steps for becoming a strong and faith-filled Catholic man; living the joy of being Catholic men; a clearer vision of God’s unique plan for your life; and the knowledge, strength and courage to stand up to the challenges of culture today. Green is All-American

United Soccer Coaches recently named Chaminade College Preparatory School senior Sean Green as an All-American. Green, a midfielder, was a pivotal player for three years on the varsity squad at Chaminade. His contribution of 16 goals and 14 assists was just one aspect of Green’s impact on Chaminade soccer. School officials consider him a leader among his peers who understands the importance of excelling in the classroom in order to be a part of the team, illustrated by his 3.67/4.0 grade point average and 50 hours of college credit. Chaminade varsity soccer coach Mike Gauvain said, “His versatility, technical ability, and his intelligence on the field sets him apart. Great work ethic and a love for the game just adds to Sean being a complete soccer player.”
