Photos by Jacob Wiegand | jacobwiegand@archstl.org Father Brad Modde, left, prayed over Adam Wright along with members of Adam’s family during the sacrament of anointing of the sick on April 7 at St. Joan of Arc Church in St. Lucy Parish in St. Louis. Adam has neuroendocrine tumors. “The most repeated phrase in all of the Scriptures is, ‘don’t be afraid,’” Adam said. “You see the evidence of where He has been working in your life, it makes it a lot easier to trust Him and not be afraid.… But even in those moments, if there is some anxiety, or if there is some fear, or I’m feeling like, ‘Man, I really wish I had someone to talk to,’ there’s still that reassurance that you’re not alone.”

The stainless-steel sculpture, which was installed on the grounds of the Cathedral Basilica of Saint Louis in 1999, is undergoing restoration after it was vandalized last September.

William Leach prayed the Liturgy of the Hours in his room April 2 at Mother of Good Counsel Home in Northwoods. “The most rewarding thing is the work you do, because you’re helping people to heaven,” Msgr. Leach said about being a priest. “That’s the whole purpose of us as priests is to help the people get along in this life, but primarily to be prepared for the next life so that they can all go to heaven.”

The gathering featured outdoor eucharistic adoration and praise and worship music, while a group consecrated themselves to Mary and enrolled in the Brown Scapular.
Fr. Brian Barker elevated the Eucharist while celebrating Mass with campers at the start of their camp session Sunday, July 27, 2025, at Camp Ondessonk in rural Johnson County, Illinois. The Catholic youth camp, next to southern Illinois’ Shawnee National Forest, averages 3,300 campers each summer more than 30 percent of which come from the St. Louis area.
