OBITUARY | Sister Rose Marie Przybylowicz, OSF
A funeral Mass for Sister Rose Marie Przybylowicz, OSF, was celebrated Sept. 23 at Mother of Perpetual Help Residence in Shrewsbury. Sister Rose Marie died Sept. 9 at age 82, having celebrated 60 years in religious life.
Sister Rose Marie was born in Dayton, Ohio, and entered the Franciscan Sisters of Our Lady of Perpetual Help in 1960. She professed perpetual vows in 1966. Sister Rose Marie’s accomplishments included a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree from Saint Louis University and a master’s degree in administration from the University of Notre Dame.
Sister Rose Marie shared her gifts and talents as a Catholic school educator in elementary and high schools. She served seven years in key positions at St. Francis Rehabilitation Hospital in Green Springs, Ohio. Within her Franciscan community, Sister Rose Marie ministered 14 years as treasurer general. Her last ministry was administrative assistant of the Glenmary Home Missioners for 16 years.
Her talents were also shared as a consultant for the National Association of Treasurers of Religious Institutes. She was also instrumental in creating CACE, Corporate Actions for Care of the Elderly, the beginning of Cardinal Ritter Senior Services in St. Louis. Her desire to serve others was recognized when she was presented the Peacemaker Award from the Franciscan Federation Conference for mentoring groups experiencing financial difficulties.
As a teacher in the Archdiocese of St. Louis, Sister Rose Marie taught at Our Lady of Guadalupe School and St. Casimir School. She also taught in Monroe, Louisiana; Chicago Ridge, Illinois; Fairborn, Ohio; and Omaha, Nebraska.
She is survived by a sister, Phyllis; her brother, Robert; and several nieces and nephews. Burial was in Resurrection Cemetery.
