OBITUARY | Sister Mary Jolitta Konecny, RSM
Sister Mary Jolitta Konecny died July 20 at Mercy Hospital, St. Louis. A Sister of Mercy for 65 years, she was 84 years old.
A funeral Mass was celebrated July 23 at Our Lady of Holy Souls Church in Little Rock, Arkansas.
Sister Jolitta primarily ministered in secondary education and as a director of pastoral services in the health care, most recently as chaplain at Mercy Memorial Health Center in Ardmore, Oklahoma. In addition, she was known as a dedicated historian of the Mercy community and ministry life of the Sisters of Mercy, especially throughout her native state of Arkansas. She was born a farm girl, who always cherished creation, especially the gift of the land. She loved anything outdoors, as well as sports, archives and jigsaw puzzles.
Burial was in Calvary Cemetery in Little Rock.
