A memorial Mass for Father Phil Krahman will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 10, at the Cardinal Rigali Center in Shrewsbury. Visitation will be one hour before Mass. Father Krahman died Aug. 21 at age 79.
Father Krahman was born on Nov. 18, 1946, in St. Louis to Herbert and Audrey (Kennedy) Krahman. He was baptized on Dec. 1, 1946, at St. John the Baptist Church. He attended St. Louis Preparatory Seminary-South, Cardinal Glennon College and Kenrick Seminary.
He was ordained to the priesthood by Cardinal John J. Carberry on May 20, 1972, at the Cathedral of Saint Louis. His first assignment was as associate pastor at Good Shepherd in Ferguson (1972-76). He then served as associate pastor at St. Rose of Lima in De Soto (1976-78), Transfiguration in Florissant (1978-81), All Saints in St. Peters (1981-87) and St. Martin de Porres in Hazelwood (1987-88).
He pursued graduate studies at Saint Louis University from 1988-90, and he served as a chaplain at Mercy Hospital – St. Louis from 1990-2008.
From 1988-92, he was also a part-time associate pastor at Corpus Christi in Jennings, then part-time associate pastor at Little Flower in Richmond Heights (1992-99) and St. Monica in Creve Coeur (1999-2000).
He was in residence at St. Richard in Creve Coeur from 2000-08, then assigned as associate pastor at Sacred Heart in Valley Park (2008-09) and All Saints in St. Peters (2009-11). He was named pastor of Immaculate Conception in Old Monroe from 2011-13.
After a leave of absence, he served as the archbishop’s liaison to senior priests from 2014-24. He retired in 2024 at Regina Cleri and moved to Laclede Groves in 2026.
