About Sister Marygay Lawrence: With God’s help and guidance, I found my home in the ministry of education for seven years as a teacher and for 39 years as a principal. The community we created in the schools I ministered in mirrored that of our SSND community. As I collaborated with the parents, students, teachers and staff, there were many meaningful experiences, but one that stands out is the gift of community that we developed. Prayer, collaboration on all things and respect for one another and our differences was our way of building a Christ-centered climate and culture in the schools. I am thankful to have been a part of the development of these school communities and for the collaboration that made our schools the special places they were.

About Sister Mary Hodel: I love that I was raised on a farm in rural St. Clair County, Illinois. About Sister Diane Marie Owens: I remember the fashion show in the last five years at Tierra del Sol, in Sunland, California. How wonderful it was! One special student decided that she wanted to create an outfit on her own in the sewing class. After success in doing so, many other students wanted to do the same. We received donations for some of the materials needed, the students made their outfits, and we had a fashion show. It became very popular! I told the administrator that she would need to narrate the show, but she said that I had to do it instead. Never had I stood in front of such a public venue to speak, but I did it and I have not stopped. My thanks goes out to the very first student who desired to create her own outfit, for it was she who inspired the staff to have a fashion show!

About Sister Charles Ann Crowder: A highlight of my life was winning a trip to Rome for the beatification of our foundress, Mother Theresa Gerhardinger, and also visiting Munich and other places in Germany. About Sister Jean Ann Weyer: Having the blessing of teaching biology all of my life, I love the outdoors! It is God’s biology lab. I spend as much time as possible outside. I love to listen to the music of nature out there. A garden that would attract butterflies was just planted at The Sarah Community. As I walked outside, a butterfly flew past. For me, after not having seen a butterfly for quite some time, this experience was a sermon from God! I recommend a book by Eddie Doherty, “I Cover God.”
