Youth choir auditions
Auditions for the archdiocesan youth choir will be held from 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m. on May 31 and June 14 in the St. Cecilia Chapel of the Cathedral Basilica of Saint Louis. The youth choir, with children in grades 4-12, sings at several Masses at the cathedral basilica throughout the year, including Christmas Eve, Easter morning, the Chrism Mass, ordination Mass and more. Songs of the Soul
St. Anselm Parish in Creve Coeur will host Songs of the Soul, a moving concert of sacred music that traces the human spiritual journey from despair and suffering to hope and transformation, at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 1, in Saint Louis Abbey Church. The concert will feature masterpieces by Dietrich Buxtehude, a seminal composer of the German Baroque, and his Italian contemporaries. The St. Cecilia Ensemble will perform under the direction of Andrzej Zahorski, joined by nationally renowned guest artists soprano Cecilia MeeAe Nam and lutenist Jeffrey Noonan. The concert is free and open to all.
Next Chapter Program
The Next Chapter Program is a six-month program for people who are approaching retirement or who are recently retired. The program assists individuals who are discerning who God is calling them to be and what God is calling them to do in their next chapter of life. The program is grounded in Ignatian spirituality and is sponsored by the Office of Ignatian Spirituality of the Jesuits USA Central &Southern Province. The next cohort will begin in October. Catholic Social Teaching & Care for the Earth
Mark Etling of Saint Louis University’s School for Professional Studies will explore the principles of Catholic social teaching relating to our call to care for the Earth at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 4, at Our Lady of Sorrows, 5020 Rhodes Ave. in St. Louis. Breast cancer healing Mass
A Mass will be celebrated to honor and extend healing to all who have been affected by breast cancer at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, June 7, at St. Ambrose Parish in St. Louis. Survivors and patients as well as family members and friends are welcome. The Mass will offer those in attendance the opportunity to join their sufferings with Christ and pray for the peace and healing of all. The sacrament of the anointing of the sick will be available as part of the Mass, and a reception will be held immediately afterward.
First Saturday Rosary for Life
The Archdiocesan Respect Life Apostolate will host a peaceful prayer and witness outside Planned Parenthood, 4251 Forest Park Ave. in St. Louis, at the First Saturday Rosary for Life on June 7. The group meets at 9:30 a.m. on the sidewalk with additional prayer, hospitality and refreshments at Our Lady of Guadalupe Convent afterward. Christ Alive Through Mary
Christ Alive Through Mary women’s witness ministry will host a speaker and breakfast on Saturday, June 7, at the Cardinal Rigali Center, 20 Archbishop May Drive in Shrewsbury. Mary Burke, adult faith formation coordinator at Mary Queen of Peace Parish, will speak on belovedness. Registration begins at 8:30, with breakfast and program from 9 a.m.-noon. Cost is $20.
