Obituary | Sr. Victoria Munoz, OSF

Sr. Munoz

Sister Victoria Munoz, a retired nurse, died July 4 at the age of 80.

Born in Anthony, New Mexico, Sister Victoria entered the Franciscan Sisters of Our Lady of Perpetual Help in 1963 and made final vows in 1969.

In the St. Louis Archdiocese, she ministered at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Nursing Home, the motherhouse of her community and Heritage of St. Louis Nursing Home. She also ministered in Colorado, Ohio and Louisiana. She later served as a clerical assistant at the University of Missouri.

Members of her community remember Sister Victoria for the gifts of kindness and compassion — marked by a sense of humor and a smile — that she brought to her role as a nurse. She taught others about good fun, good music, good food and living a festive life. She never complained, though she lived for more than 30 years with multiple sclerosis.

Sister Victoria was the youngest of 15 children and is survived by two sisters and one brother. A private burial took place in Resurrection Cemetery on June 9. A Mass celebrating her life will be held at a later date.
