A funeral Mass for Sister Kathleen Kevin Ryan was celebrated Dec. 23 at Nazareth Living Center Chapel in south St. Louis County.
Sister Kathleen, 88, died Dec. 20 at Nazareth of complications of dementia.
Born in Chicago, she entered the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet in 1947 and made her final profession in 1952. She received a bachelor’s degree in history from Fontbonne College in 1958.
In the Archdiocese of St. Louis, Sister Kathleen taught at Most Holy Rosary School, 1949-51; St. Margaret of Scotland School, 1951-52; St. Philip Neri School,1952-54; and St. Rita School, 1954-62. She also taught in Georgia, Michigan, Hawaii and Chicago. She served as a religious education coordinator and in parish ministry at a parish in Chicago from 1991 to 2003.
She returned to St. Louis and served as a hospitality associate at St. Joseph Provincial House, until moving to Nazareth in 2009.
Burial was in Resurrection Cemetery.
