OBITUARY | Sr. Charlotte Struckhoff, OSF

Sister Charlotte Struckhoff died June 9 at the age of 81.

Born in Augusta, Sister Charlotte entered the Franciscan Sisters of Our Lady of Perpetual Help 1956 and made final vows in 1962. She received a bachelor’s degree in music education from Webster College in 1964 and a master’s degree in music education from Indiana University, Bloomington, in 1974. She ministered as an elementary and high school teacher, pastoral associate, music minister, choir director and organist.

In the Archdiocese of St. Louis, she taught at Our Lady of Guadalupe School from 1964-69 and Our Lady of Perpetual Help High School from 1967-69. She was an organist and liturgical music coordinator at St. Francis de Sales Parish from 1998-2002 and at St. Stanislaus Kostka Parish, St. John the Apostle and Evangelist Parish and St. Agatha Parish from 2002-09. Sister Charlotte served as coordinator of the Healing and Deliverance Ministry from 2000-13. She initiated the Jonah Team Prayer Ministry in parishes from 2000-13. She also ministered in Ohio, Louisiana, Indiana, Nebraska, Texas and New Mexico.

Sister Charlotte was an exceptional musician. She composed music as well, based on the writings of St. Francis of Assisi, and for anniversaries of her community.

Beginning in 1971, Sister Charlotte was active in the Catholic Charismatic Renewal in diocesan, parish and/or prayer group events. In retirement, she assisted in Life in the Spirit Seminars, Healing and Deliverance Prayer Teams, and with the Catholic Renewal Center.

Survivors include three sisters and two brothers. A private burial took place in Resurrection Cemetery on June 17. A Mass celebrating her life will be held at a later date.
