A funeral Mass for Sister Beverly (Mary Evelyn) Reck, SSND, was celebrated July 29 in the School Sisters of Notre Dame Theresa Center chapel in south St. Louis County. Sister Beverly died July 24 at Veronica House in Bridgeton. She was 79 and a former teacher, principal and librarian.
Born in Hillsboro, Ill., Sister Beverly entered the School Sisters of Notre Dame in 1956. She professed first vows in 1958 and final vows in 1964. She earned a bachelor’s degree in history in 1960 from the former Notre Dame College in St. Louis and a master’s in elementary administration in 1970 from St. Louis University.
In the Archdiocese of St. Louis, she taught at St. Hedwig in St. Louis, St. William in Woodson Terrace and St. Mary Magdalen in Brentwood; she also served as an administrator at Notre Dame Hall in St. Louis. In addition, she served in Illinois, Texas, California, Tennessee and Freeburg, Mo.
She was missioned to Veronica House in 2014.
