Obituary | Sister Kathryn Ann Geringer, OSF
Sister Kathryn Ann (Mary Joann) Geringer, OSF, died Sept. 7 at age 78. Sister Kathryn Ann ministered as a teacher and receptionist.
Born in St. Louis, Sister Kathryn Ann entered the Franciscan Sisters of Our Lady of Perpetual Help in 1958 and made final vows in 1964.
In the Archdiocese of St. Louis, Sister Kathryn Ann taught at Holy Ghost School in Berkeley, Our Lady of the Pillar School in Creve Coeur, St. Bartholomew in Hazelwood and St. Francis of Assisi School in Oakville. She also ministered in Oak Creek, Wisconsin, and Fairborn, Ohio. Later, she served as receptionist at the skilled care and assisted living facilities of Cardinal Ritter Senior Services in St. Louis.
Sister Kathryn Ann’s gentle and peaceful manner enabled her to fulfill her reason for entering religious life, “to teach little children to love Jesus.” She was devoted to her ministry as a primary grade educator and had a deep love and appreciation for her congregation and the Franciscan Friars, both of whom taught and influenced her as a student at St. Francis of Assisi School.
Burial was in Resurrection Cemetery. A memorial Mass will take place at a later date.
