Obituary | Sister Judith Tokarczyk, OSF
The funeral Mass for Sister Judith Tokarczyk, OSF, was celebrated Feb. 20 in the Lally Room on the Carberry Campus of Cardinal Ritter Senior Services in Shrewsbury. Sister Judith died Feb. 14 at Mary, Queen and Mother Center in Shrewsbury. She was 88 and had been a Franciscan Sister of Our Lady of Perpetual Help for 69 years.
Born in Sioux City, Iowa, in 1929, she entered the Franciscan Sisters of Our Lady of Perpetual Help in 1945 and professed perpetual vows in 1951. She received a bachelor’s degree from Webster College and a master’s degree from St. Louis University.
Sister Judith taught in New Mexico, Louisiana, California, Ohio, Nebraska, Kansas, Iowa and Louisiana, and was a principal in Nebraska, Tennessee and Louisiana. She also taught in Missouri in Berkeley, Port Hudson and Augusta. In her later years, she ministered at Cardinal Ritter Institute and Regina Cleri Retirement Home in the Archdiocese of St. Louis.
