OBITUARY | Deacon Theodore Rodis
A funeral Mass for Deacon Theodore “Ted” Rodis was celebrated Feb. 11 at Seven Holy Founders Parish in Affton. Deacon Rodis died Feb. 7 at the age of 85.
Deacon Rodis was the husband of Joan (Schutte) Rodis for 50 years. He was the father of John, Kara Mosqueda, Brian and Eric. He also had 10 grandchildren and is survived by a sister, Anne Gioia.
He was ordained on June 3, 2000, at the Cathedral Basilica of Saint Louis by then-Archbishop Justin Rigali. He was assigned and assisted the pastor at Seven Holy Founders, where he served as a deacon until 2009. His assignment was moved to Cure of Ars Parish in Shrewsbury, until he entered into retirement status in 2013.
Deacon Rodis served at the altar by assisting at daily and weekend Masses. He presided at baptisms, funeral services and weddings. Additionally, Deacon Rodis served his parish by leading Bible study classes, Perpetual Help devotions and weekly Holy Hours, visiting nursing homes and making Communion calls to the homebound. He was also involved with the Knights of Columbus.
Burial was in Resurrection Cemetery.
