OBITUARY | Deacon Richard Moore
A funeral Mass for Deacon Richard R. “Dick” Moore was celebrated on Feb. 7 at St. Patrick Church in Wentzville. Deacon Moore died Jan. 27 at age 75.
Deacon Moore married Diane Marie Moore and they had four children: Mary Catherine Meyer, Brian Patrick Moore, Melissa Rose Ewing and Ann Marie Siesener. He worked as a sales representative at the Leo M. Ellebracht Company for 44 years until his retirement in 2012.
Deacon Moore was ordained by then-Archbishop Raymond Burke on June 5, 2004, at the Cathedral Basilica of Saint Louis. He was first assigned to assist the pastor at St. Patrick Parish in Wentzville, where he served as a deacon for two years. In 2006, Deacon Moore was assigned to St. Gianna Parish in Wentzville, where he remained until his retirement in 2017.
During his diaconate ministry, Deacon Moore presided at baptisms, funeral services and weddings; led RCIA, marriage and baptism classes; and visited nursing homes and brought Communion to the homebound. He also served as a chaplain to several local fire departments.
