A funeral Mass for Deacon James J. Litteken was celebrated Nov. 28 at St. Joseph Church in Cottleville. Deacon Litteken died Nov. 22 at the age of 74.
Deacon Litteken is the father of Eric Litteken, Katie Roberts and the late Christopher Litteken. He was a retired fire chief of the Cottleville Fire Protection District.
Deacon Litteken was ordained as a deacon on May 21, 2005, at the Cathedral Basilica of Saint Louis by then-Archbishop Raymond L. Burke and was then assigned to St. Paul Parish in St. Paul. He assisted with Masses, baptisms, weddings, funeral services, Communion services and many other seasonal liturgical services. Deacon Litteken also worked with RCIA and the Parish School of Religion in his parish.
