A funeral Mass for Deacon Diosdado L. Maranan was celebrated Feb. 5 at Assumption Church in south St. Louis County. Deacon Maranan died Jan. 31 at the age of 85.
He was married to Lourdes Diaz Maranan; they had five children: Sr. Maria Lourdes Maranan ASCJ, Dante Alexander Maranan, Diosdado D. Maranan, Daniel Maranan and the late Dean Maranan.
Deacon Maranan was ordained on June 3, 2000, at the Cathedral Basilica of Saint Louis by then-Archbishop Justin Rigali. He was assigned and assisted the pastor at St. David Parish in Arnold, where he served as a deacon until he entered into retirement status in June 2010. Deacon Maranan served at Mass, Communion Service and other liturgies. He served his parish by presiding at baptisms, funeral services and weddings.
Additionally, Deacon Maranan served his parish by visiting nursing homes and making Communion calls to the homebound. He was also involved with the parish council and the St. Vincent de Paul Society.
