OBITUARY | Deacon Diosdado L. Maranan
A funeral Mass for Deacon Diosdado L. Maranan was celebrated Feb. 5 at Assumption Church in south St. Louis County. He died Jan. 31 at the age of 85.
Deacon Maranan, a medical doctor, was married to Lourdes Diaz Maranan; they had five children.
Deacon Maranan was ordained in 2000, at the Cathedral Basilica of Saint Louis by then-Archbishop Justin Rigali. He was assigned and assisted the pastor at St. David Parish in Arnold, where he served as a deacon until he retired in June 2010. Deacon Maranan served at Mass, Communion services and other liturgies. He presided at baptisms, funeral services and weddings.
Additionally, Deacon Maranan visited nursing homes and made Communion calls to the homebound. He was also involved with the parish council and the St. Vincent de Paul Society.
Survivors include his wife, Lourdes; four children, Sister Maria Lourdes Maranan, ASCJ, Dante Alexander Maranan, Diosdado D. Maranan, Daniel Maranan; a brother, Rodrigo Maranan; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Dean Maranan.
