Men, women with ties to St. Louis profess vows with religious communities

Adorers of the Blood of Christ

Sister Kristen Forgotch, ASC, made her perpetual vows on Jan. 1. She recently graduated with a master’s degree in religious education with a focus on administration from Saint Louis University and, in June, moved to St. Charles.


Apostles of the Sacred Heart of Jesus

Sister Allison Zink and Sister Clara Marie Johnson renewed their vows on July 27 in Rome, and Sister Patricia Elaine Young renewed her vows on July 26 in Hamden, Connecticut. Sister Allison, a native of St. Louis, and Sister Clara Marie are currently studying in Rome as part of their community’s international formation program. Sister Patricia is teaching at Cor Jesu Academy in St. Louis.

Sister Sinéad Máire Doyle made her first profession with the Apostles of the Sacred Heart of Jesus on July 26 in Hamden. The native of Derry, Ireland, served at Cor Jesu Academy, teaching and assisting in campus ministry as a novice from 2023-24.


Carmelite Sisters of the Divine Heart of Jesus

Sister M. Magdalene Therese of the Merciful Father and Mariana Joy of the Heart of Jesus renewed their vows July 1 with the Carmelite Sisters of the Divine Heart of Jesus in Kirkwood. Sister Mariana Joy is the former Emma Ackerman of Ascension Parish in Chesterfield and a graduate of St. John Paul II Preparatory School. Sister Anunciata Grace Jones also professed her first vows with the community on July 1. Sister M. Alicia de los Angeles de la Sagrada Familia professed perpetual vows with the community on July 2.

Sisters Allison Regina Gliot, Amanda Marie Detry and Orianne Pietra René Dyck renewed their vows with the Daughters of St. Paul in June and July. And Sister Julie Marie Benedicta Turner made her perpetual profession of vows in June. All four had been missioned in St. Louis during postulancy.

Sister Mary Grace Niemann professed her first vows with the Discalced Carmelite Nuns in St. Louis on June 28. The former Elizabeth “Lisa” Ann Niemann previously attended Saint Louis University and was a parishioner at the Cathedral Basilica of Saint Louis and a member of its young adult group, Anima Christi.


Dominican Friars

Deacons Dominick Jean and Joseph Van Havermaet were ordained to the diaconate Feb. 8 at St. Dominic Priory in St. Louis for the Dominican Friars, Province of St. Albert the Great. Deacon Andrew Martin del Valle was ordained to the diaconate Feb. 8 at St. Dominic Priory for the Dominican Friars, Province of St. Martin de Porres.

Brother Jude Angelico DuCharme was among seven men who professed their first vows with the Dominican Friars, Province of the Most Holy Name of Jesus, on Aug. 30 at St. Dominic’s Church in San Francisco. Brother DuCharme is a native of St. Louis who attended St. Catherine Laboure Parish in Sappington. He is a graduate of St. Louis University High School and Loyola Marymount University.


Dominican Sisters of Nashville (Congregation of St. Cecilia)

Sister Chiara Grace Maurer renewed her vows on July 27 with the Dominican Sisters of Nashville. The former Alexia Maurer attended St. Joseph Parish in Cottleville. She is a graduate of Francis Howell High School and attended Benedictine College.

Sister Aimee Marie Oliphant also made her perpetual profession of vows on July 25 with the community. She served at St. Joseph School in Cottleville from 2022-24.


Franciscan Friars of the Renewal

Brother Francis Immaculata professed his first vows with the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal Aug. 2 in New York. The former Ryan Box of St. Paul Parish in St. Paul is a graduate of St. Dominic High School and attended Kenrick-Glennon Seminary. He is now assigned to Our Lady of Angels Friary in the Bronx, New York, serving the youth within the community.


Leaven of the Immaculate Heart of Mary

Sister Mary Gianna renewed her temporary vows on May 15 with the Leaven of the Immaculate Heart of Mary in Columbus, Ohio. The former Cherubimaris Kimberly Casino attended Ascension Parish in Chesterfield and is a graduate of Visitation Academy and Saint Louis University. She most recently taught at St. John Paul II Preparatory School in St. Charles.


Missionaries of Charity

Sisters M. Cor Teresa and Velencia professed their final vows with the Missionaries of Charity on May 22 in San Francisco. Sister M. Cor Teresa served in St. Louis from 2021-24 as a junior sister and is now missioned to Houston, Texas. Sister Velencia served in St. Louis from 2019-2020 as a junior sister and is now missioned to Memphis, Tennessee.


Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word (Houston)

Sister Florence Muthoni Muchai professed her first vows with the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word, Houston, on Aug. 9 at the sisters’ motherhouse, Villa de Matel in Houston. She was missioned to the Archdiocese of St. Louis in 2023 and volunteers with St. Francis Xavier (College) Church Outreach, helping St. Louis residents get their IDs and birth certificates.


Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word (San Antonio)

Sister Christi Sánchez professed her final vows with the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word, San Antonio, on Dec. 14. She was missioned to the Archdiocese of St. Louis from 2018-20 and served at St. Elizabeth’s Adult Day Care Center and the St. Charles Lwanga Center.


Sisters of Life

Sister Léonie Thérése made her perpetual profession with the Sisters of Life in New York on Aug. 6. The former Maura Weis of St. Ferdinand Parish in Florissant attended Rosati-Kain High School and Lindenwood University before entering the community.


Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet, St. Louis Province

Sister Kristina DeNeve renewed her temporary vows on June 2 at the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet motherhouse in St. Louis. The native of Moline, Illinois, is currently missioned in the Archdiocese of St. Louis.

Five Jesuits of the USA Central and Southern Province — Paul Gillam, Jackson Graham, Corey Jackson, Tom Laughlin and Viêt Vu — pronounced first vows on Aug. 9 at the University Chapel at Regis University in Denver. Gillam attended St. Richard Parish in Creve Coeur, Laughlin attended St. Joseph in Manchester, and both are graduates of St. Louis University High School. Laughlin, Jackson and Vu began studies at Saint Louis University in August. The profession of first vows follows two years of novitiate training, including prayer, academic study and ministerial experience in Jesuit works throughout the United States, the Caribbean and Central America. Father William C. Manaker was ordained for the Jesuits on June 14 in New Orleans. He served at De Smet Jesuit High School in St. Louis for three years during his formation. Father Joe Laramie made his final vows with the Jesuits on May 3 at St. Francis Xavier (College) Church. Father Laramie attended Sacred Heart Parish in Florissant and St. Louis University High School.


The Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter

Father Steven Kalinowski was ordained to the priesthood for the Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter on May 28 at St. Peter’s Church in Lincoln, Nebraska. Father Kalinowski, from the Oratory of Sts. Gregory and Augustine in St. Louis, studied at the fraternity’s seminary in Denton, Nebraska, Our Lady of Guadalupe. He was appointed parochial vicar of Mater Dei Parish in Irving, Texas.
