Catholic organizations within the archdiocese may now register to participate in the U.S. Catholic Church’s giving day celebrating all aspects of the Catholic faith — #iGiveCatholic, which inspires people to “Give Catholic” on Giving Tuesday, Nov. 30.
#iGiveCatholic will be a time for the faithful from participating dioceses everywhere to donate both online and offline to their favorite participating Catholic parishes, schools and ministries. In this way, Catholics can support the organizations they are most passionate about on Giving Tuesday. Parishes, schools and ministries may raise funds for a capital improvement, their annual fundraiser, or another project of their choosing.
The mission of #iGiveCatholic is to unite Catholic communities and donors throughout the country. Celebrated annually on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving, Black Friday and Cyber Monday, #iGiveCatholic is a giving day that is intended to kick off the charitable season and brings the Catholic community together to give thanks and give back. #iGiveCatholic inspires faithful stewards to “Give Catholic” on Giving Tuesday, a global day of generosity fueled by the power of social media and collaboration.
All nonprofit Catholic parishes, schools, ministries and similar organizations in the Archdiocese of St. Louis are invited to participate. There is no cost to participate since registration fees are paid by the Annual Catholic Appeal and are a gift from Archbishop Mitchell Rozanski.
“Smaller organizations that are not able to have a more robust development effort will benefit the most from the simplicity of this effort,” said Archbishop Rozanski. “#iGiveCatholic is a way for the Annual Catholic Appeal to serve an even wider list of organizations. I hope a wide variety of organizations will choose to participate, inviting those who care most about their organization to make gifts and encourage others to do the same.”
All Catholic organizations in the Archdiocese of St. Louis are invited to participate. They can learn more, and register to participate, at www.archstl.org/igivecatholic. Applications must be received on or before Nov. 3.
#iGiveCatholic
The goal of #iGiveCatholic is to rally the Catholic community in support of parishes, schools, and ministries. In 2020, the sixth year of the campaign in on Giving Tuesday in November raised:
• More than $12.7 million for 2,600+ participating parishes, schools and nonprofit ministries representing the National Catholic Education Association (NCEA), ministries across the U.S., and 40 dioceses across the country.
• At the close of the 24-hour giving period, the number of contributions both online and offline totaled more than 48,000 gifts from 50 states and 12 countries.
Giving Tuesday
The GivingTuesday Data Commons estimates:
• 34.8 million people participated in GivingTuesday 2020, a 29% increase over 2019.
• Total giving increased from $1.97 billion to $2.47 billion in the United States alone, representing a 25% increase compared to GivingTuesday 2019.
• These totals are in addition to the generosity represented by #GivingTuesdayNow launched by GivingTuesday earlier last year as a response to COVID-19, when more than $503 million in online donations were contributed in the U.S. alone.
