Black Catholic history lecture

Author and publisher Winnie Sullivan will present a lecture, “A Holy Inheritance: The History of Black Catholics in St. Louis,” at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 7, at the Missouri History Museum (Des Lee Auditorium), 5700 Lindell Blvd. in St. Louis. Sullivan, a member of St. Francis Xavier “College” Church, will share the story of African-American Catholics in St. Louis, from their arrival in the area before the city’s founding to present day. Her presentation will be followed by a panel discussion, “From the Riverbanks to the Plains: The Exodusters Movement in St. Louis and Kansas, 1879-1881.” To register, visit stlreview.com/4gedGmu.
