St. Joseph School students excel at science fairs

Middle school students at St. Joseph School in Farmington have excelled in several area science fairs this spring. Students earned top awards at the SEMO Regional Fair, with 11 projects advancing to the Show-Me State Competition in St. Charles. Four student projects received a “highly superior” rating at the Missouri Junior Academy of Science competition, advancing to the state competition in Springfield. And students received top awards again, including first place in five of the six categories, at the Mineral Area College Science Fair. Anna Cartee earned a Best of Fair Award at the Mineral Area College fair for her research examining the effects of rock quarries on water quality. At SEMO, Lucas Berkbigler was recognized with Best of Fair in physical science and Wes Wilson earned Best of Fair in biological science. Wes was also named the Science Coach Top Researcher for 2026.
Franciscan poverty
Salt + Light young adult ministry will host a Day of Recollection on Franciscan Poverty from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, April 25, at the Black Madonna Shrine, 100 St. Joseph’s Hill Road in Pacific. Project Rachel and Project Joseph
The Respect Life Apostolate’s Abortion Healing Ministry will host a Project Rachel Day of Hope and Healing for women touched by abortion from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, May 2, at the Catholic Renewal Center. Meet Them at the Well
The Northern Vicariate of the Archdiocese of St. Louis will host “Meet Them at the Well: Walking with Our Loved Ones Who Have Left the Church” from 9 a.m.-noon Saturday, May 2, at St. Simon the Apostle Church, 11011 Mueller Road in south St. Louis County. Participants will learn how to talk to adult children who have left the Church, practice sharing their faith story with others, hear practical dos and don’ts and strategies for addressing roadblocks to returning to church. Wonder of Eve mother-daughter brunch
The archdiocesan Office of Natural Family Planning will host a Wonder of Eve presentation at a free mother-daughter brunch from 9-11 a.m. Saturday, May 9, at Good Shepherd Church in Hillsboro. Teen girls (ages 14-18 or eighth grade through senior year) and their mothers are invited to the brunch program to learn more about the female body and the impact of choices on future health and fertility. Pentecost Vigil Mass
A Pentecost Vigil Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, May 23, at the Chapel of the Risen Christ at Resurrection Cemetery, 7741 Mackenzie Road in south St. Louis County. The day will include a talk from Father Charlie Archer from 2-3 p.m., praise and worship from 3-4:30 p.m. and Mass with Father John Mayo at 5 p.m. Refreshments will be served afterward at the Cardinal Rigali Center, 20 Archbishop May Drive in Shrewsbury.
