Obituary | Sr. Mary Aloysia Heurich, VHM
A funeral Mass for Sister Mary Aloysia Heurich, VHM, was celebrated Feb. 22 in the chapel of Visitation Academy in Town and Country. Sister Aloysia died at the Visitation Monastery at Catherine’s Residence in Frontenac Feb. 19. She was 94.
Born Rose Marie Heurich in Washington, D.C., she entered the Visitation of Holy Mary community in Frederick, Maryland in 1943. She transferred to Visitation of St. Louis in 1968. After teaching kindergarten and elementary school in her early years, she earned an associate degree in nursing from the Missouri Baptist School of Nursing in 1977 and cared for her sisters for many years as the infirmarian nurse. She enjoyed cooking, reading, knitting/crocheting, playing the organ and friendships. She volunteered in the Visitation Academy upper school library. In July 2020, Sister Aloysia would have celebrated her 75th anniversary of religious profession.
Survivors include three sisters, Mabel Capacchione, Lucille Harbin and Louise Lewter. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery.
