Obituary | Sr. Marilyn Smolinski, OSF
The funeral Mass for Sister Marilyn Smolinski was to be celebrated May 30 in the Lally Room on the Cardinal Carberry Campus of Cardinal Ritter Senior Services in Shrewsbury.
Sister Marilyn, a Franciscan Sister of Our Lady of Perpetual Help for 64 years who was a retired educator, died May 24, at Mother of Perpetual Help Residence in Shrewsbury. She was 86 years old.
Born in Omaha, Neb., she entered the Franciscan Sisters of Our Lady of Perpetual Help in 1952 and professed perpetual vows in 1958. She earned a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree from Webster College in Webster Groves.
Sister Marilyn taught in the St. Louis Archdiocese at Our Lady of the Pillar School, St. Pius X High School and at St. Sebastian School in Dellwood. She also taught at schools in West Virginia, Louisiana, Kansas, New Mexico, Illinois, Nebraska, Iowa and Wisconsin. In her later years she ministered as librarian at Our Lady of the Pillar School and volunteered at the Tau Center in Kirkwood.
Burial was to be in Resurrection Cemetery.
