Obituary | Sr. Julia Marie Cody, OP
Sister Julia Marie Cody of the Dominican Sisters, Sparkill, New York, died on Nov. 14 in Siena Hall, Dominican Convent in Sparkill. She was 98 years old.
Born Regina Marie Cody in St. Louis, she entered the Dominican Congregation of Our Lady of the Rosary in Sparkill in 1944 and received the name Sister Julia Marie. She professed first vows in 1946 and final vows in 1951.
Sister Julia Marie received a bachelor’s degree in education from Webster College in Webster Groves in 1958 and library science certification in 1969.
Sister Julia Marie taught in the Archdiocese of St. Louis at Holy Redeemer School, 1947-52; St. Mark the Evangelist School, 1952-61; St. James the Greater School, 1961-68; St. Simon School, 1968-70; St. Elizabeth School, 1970-74; and St. Thomas More School, 1974-87. From 1987-99, she was a librarian at the St. Louis County Library. She earlier taught in New York.
Burial was in St. Agnes Cemetery.
