OBITUARY | Sister Patricia Bachman, DC

A Mass of Christian Burial for Sister Patricia Bachman, DC, was celebrated July 11 at Seton Residence Chapel in Evansville, Indiana. Sister Patricia died July 6 at Seton Residence. She was 82.

She was born on Jan. 25, 1943, in Kansas City, Missouri, one of three children of Charles Eugene Jr. and Mary Rose (Thrush) Bachman. She graduated from Lillis High School in Kansas City in 1960 and entered the Daughters of Charity in St. Louis in 1967.

Sister Patricia received a bachelor’s degree in social studies from Loyola University in New Orleans in 1974. She served as a house mother and child care worker at St. Elizabeth Home, program coordinator at St. Monica Social Service and as administrator at Ozanam Inn in New Orleans. In San Antonio, Texas, she was a social worker at DePaul Family Center and a case manager for the St. Vincent de Paul Society. She was then missioned to Austin, Texas, where she was coordinator of group living at Marywood Home of Holy Infancy and a mission associate at Seton Family of Hospitals. She then served as program director at Kolbe House in Lincoln, Nebraska. In Arkansas, she was a case worker at Neighbor to Neighbor in Pine Bluff and a parish minister at Catholic Social Services in Little Rock.

Sister Patricia served as a local community superior and was a parish minister to the elderly and social services at St. Elizabeth Church in Kansas City. In East St. Louis, Illinois, she was a case manager for Catholic Urban Programs. While in St. Louis, she was a local community superior in Maryland Heights and Bridgeton (2003-06) and served as moderator of the Ladies of Charity (2016-18) as well as a volunteer at SSM Health DePaul Hospital (2016-21) in Bridgeton. Sister Patricia served in the ministry of prayer at The Sarah Community in Bridgeton from 2016-21, before being missioned to Seton Residence in Evansville, where she continued to serve in the ministry of prayer until her death.

Sister Patricia was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Charles E. Bachman III; and her sister, Dorothy Regina Carter. She is survived by loving family members, her Sisters in Community and many friends.

Interment was in St. Joseph Cemetery in Evansville.
