OBITUARY | Sister Hermana (Rudolphine) Hoelscher, DC

A Mass of Christian Burial for Sister Hermana (Rudolphine) Hoelscher, DC, was celebrated Feb. 6 at the Seton Residence Chapel in Evansville, Indiana. Sister Hermana died Feb. 3 at Seton Residence. She was 89 years old.
She was born on Dec. 22, 1936, in Westphalia, Texas, and was one of five children of Herman William and Anna (Wiltschek) Hoelscher. She graduated from Yoe High School in Cameron, Texas, in 1955 and entered the Daughters of Charity in St. Louis in 1957.
Sister Hermana served in child care at St. Rose Home in Milwaukee and St. Elizabeth Home in New Orleans. She then earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Marillac College in St. Louis (1971). She served as a staff nurse at Seton Hospital in Austin, Texas (1972-74), DePaul Hospital in St. Louis (1974-78), and at St. Vincent Infant Home and Charity Hospital in New Orleans. She also served as a hostess at the Shrine of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton in Emmitsburg, Maryland, a teacher at DePaul Community Development Center in Stamps, Arkansas, a pastoral assistant at Immaculate Conception Church in North Little Rock, Arkansas, a caregiver at CSJ Care in Kansas City, Missouri, and director at the Seton League House in Austin (2010-13).
Sister Hermana served in a ministry of prayer at The Sarah Community in Bridgeton (2013-19) and then at Seton Residence in Evansville from 2019 until the time of her death.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother William Hoelscher, and her sister, Mary Ann Hoelscher, CDP. She is survived by her brothers Paul Ernest and Albert Joseph Hoelscher, loving family members, her sisters in community and many friends. Burial was in St. Joseph Cemetery in Evansville.
