OBITUARY | Deacon Joseph C. Streckfuss
A funeral Mass for Deacon Joseph C. Streckfuss was celebrated July 16 at Immaculate Conception Church in Arnold. Deacon Streckfuss died July 12 at age 78.
Deacon Streckfuss served his country from 1960-64 as a airplane electrician. He married Carolyn Bast in 1965. They had four children.
Deacon Streckfuss was ordained in 1982 at the Cathedral Basilica of Saint Louis by Archbishop John L. May. Following ordination he was assigned to Immaculate Conception Parish in Arnold. He assisted the pastors of the parish with baptisms, weddings, funerals and Benediction until his retirement in 2005. In addition to assisting at Mass and liturgies, Deacon Streckfuss visited the elderly, shut-ins and the sick, taking them Holy Communion. He was also active in the St. Vincent De Paul Society. Deacon Streckfuss volunteered for many years collecting, cataloguing and distributing religious goods for the Archdiocesan Reclamation Center.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn; four children, JoAnn Marty, Jill Frenzel, Amy Oh and Charles Streckfuss; 11 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two sisters, Dona Zinck and Susan Streckfuss; and two brothers, Robert and Terry Streckfuss.
