Lenten service project

Assumption Parish in Mattese hosted its eighth annual Lenten challenge, this year supporting rural communities in the Southern Vicariate. Throughout Lent, parishioners and students donated items including paper products, child and adult diapers, towels, socks, baby clothing, books and snacks. On March 30, students and parish volunteers loaded the donations into a truck at Assumption; Our Lady School in Festus then received the truck and sorted the donations for distribution among St. Joachim Parish in Old Mines, St. James Parish food pantry in Potosi, Caring Hearts Pregnancy Resource Center, the Potosi senior ministry and others.

Entries are accepted in two age categories: youth (18 and under, primarily cell phone photography) and general (all ages; DSLR, mirrorless or high-quality phone photography). Selected submissions will be featured across archdiocesan communications and social media and displayed at the Bicentennial Jubilee Mass on July 18. The contest is open through May 10.
