Climate Change: Key Facts

Register at www.fsolph.org/events/ today to join the Sisters and other Franciscans For Earth on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, from 6:30 to 8 pm Central via Zoom, for a free presentation and discussion of Climate Change: Key Facts. Learn with us what’s driving climate change, how it’s impacting the US, and what we can do to limit future warming from Climate Central. As a policy-neutral nonprofit organization, Climate Central is a group of independent scientists and communicators who research and report the facts about our changing climate and how it affects people’s lives.
According to the website, climatecentral.org, the facts presented in the presentation are from the library of Climate Matters content — all of which is reviewed by staff scientists in line with high standards for accuracy and clarity. The 72-slide presentation features clear and compelling graphics and has been customized for the St Louis area. The presentation has three sections covering the latest science and data on:
– The evidence for and drivers of human-caused climate change.
– The impacts of climate change in the U.S., focusing on extreme weather.
– Effective options to slow warming, adapt to current risks, and ensure a safer future.
Communication is a climate solution. Sharing the facts about climate change empowers people with knowledge to make informed decisions. Research suggests that communicating about the human causes of climate change can improve public understanding and engagement on the issue.
